2018 YEAR IN REVIEW

Kitties in nurserySince last January, the PuRR Shelter took in 125 felines (about the same as past years) and found Forever Homes for only 65…..down from 95 last year! Only 15 of the adoptions were from the Plaza Marina so we have discontinued that venue and are now at PETCO every weekend.  There is a lot of competition from all the rescue groups to find homes for kittens and it gets tougher every year. Our hope is that the on-going efforts to control unwanted animals through the various FREE spay-neuter clinics will gradually make a difference in our communities in Banderas Bay! PEACE weekly clinics sterilize over 5,000 dogs and cats each year and this year the monthly Free Cuale Clinics sterilized 1,062!!!!

As of today, we still have 35 kittens in the Nursery. All our kittens are tested for FIV/Leukemia, dewormed and monitored until they are deemed to be healthy enough to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated and ready to meet the outside world….and hopefully spend the rest of their lives in a loving home. For more information on adoptions, contact Bama at adopt@purrproject.com

VIRTUAL ADOPTIONS

Dolly New Year 2019

A Virtual Adoption is a great way to say “Happy Birthday or “Thank You” to someone, and that’s exactly what Stephen Nap recently did!  He wanted to give his mother, Enid Barnes, a special gift for her upcoming birthday and she was thrilled with his gift! She was able to go on our website and see photos and read about each of the candidates and she chose “Dolly” to be her Virtual Kitty.

For For more information on how YOU can virtually adopt one of our shelter cats, along with photos of candidates, go to our website at: https://purrproject.com/adopt/

PURR 2019 CALENDAR

Purr Project Calendar 2019If you haven’t already picked up your 2019 PuRR Project Calendar, they will be available at the Daiquiri Dick’s hostess station through January.  This year’s theme is “Shelter Life, A Candid Look Behind the Walls” and not only has some amazing photos, you’ll also find the major holidays for Mexico, USA and Canada plus the moon phases.  Where else can you get all that for only a $250 peso donation!! They make a great gift for your cat-loving friends.

FEATURED FELINES: RUBY & RUTHIE

Ruthie likes to play!

Ruby and Ruthie arrived at PuRR in April of 2016 along with their mother and three tiny brothers…..a rescue by Bonnie Cretzman. Ruby is a beauty but it is unfortunate that “Torties” are not as favored as some breeds and she was passed over for adoption.  Sister Ruthie is a Calico and was also not lucky at adoption events. When they could no longer compete with the little kittens for a Furr-ever Home, they went to live in a casita at the shelter. Both are still friendly and love visitors and are still good candidates for adoption!  If you are interested in adopting of one our many “teenagers”, contact Linda at adopt@purrproject.com for more information.
