THE PURR NURSERY

Mom Cat posing with her small kittens

Mama Yoko and three of her seven babies!

We had 40 cats and kittens arrive at the shelter in April. Most were abandoned there during a crazy one-week period! It included 3 mamas with a total of 15 babies plus other kittens without a mama. Our resources and available space are strained to the limit right now. Just the record-keeping alone is a challenge! Between Dra. Eva and our great volunteers we have managed to cope and hopefully this “kitten season” will soon be over! PLEASE encourage people to get their pets spayed or neutered.

SHELTER UPDATE

Eva posing with an iguana

Eva and Miss Iggy

We are always sad when we have to release into the yard some of the older kitties who were passed over for adoption. We don’t have much choice when we have so many new kittens that we have to make space for in the nursery casitas. Dra. Eva also released back into the shelter trees a female iguana that she had been treating at her home for the past month. But the shelter looks good and new volunteers are always amazed at what a happy place it is with so many cats (plus Rocky & Lalo) living in harmony.

ADOPTIONS

Sushi, the kitten, and her new owner

Sushi adopted at PetCo!

The majority of our adoptions are done on Saturday and Sunday at the PetCo Adoption Center. In April we not only had the most new kittens ever but we also had the fewest adoptions ever. They closed the center for painting one weekend which did not help. So Please consider us when it’s time to meet your next best furry friend! Hours are 10-6:00 on Saturday and 10-4:00 on Sunday.

GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!
