SEPTEMBER IS VIRTUAL ADOPTION MONTH!!

Gulliver

Gulliver

‘Tis the season for PuRR Project Virtual Adoptions! You say you love cats, but have an allergy, an aversion to cat hair on your furniture, a housemate who doesn’t want a four-footer underfoot, or maybe you already have all the furry friends you can handle in your house? Virtual adoption is the easy, inexpensive solution—and it benefits the residents of the shelter as well! Currently, we have 25 adoption candidates on the website—just go to www.purrproject.com and click on “I Want To Adopt” You’ll see photos and read the history of these little ones, many of whom, like visitor favorite Simona, have lived happily at the shelter for years. Or Grace and Gulliver, two of our rescues from the Cuale River, now living safely in the PuRR Project garden he highlight of a shelter tour for many of our Virtual Adoption parents is the opportunity to meet their adoptees in purr-son!

Virtually adopting is inexpensive (just $120usd a year—$10usd a month), it’s easy (just choose a gato and click on the PayPal button), and it’s a great gift idea for that hard-to-buy-for cat lover on your list!

SHELTER TOURS

PuRR Shelter Tours

The PuRR Project shelter tours don’t start until November 14, but we’ve already received our first request for seats on the air-conditioned van! It’s not too early to sign up for a tour and it couldn’t be easier. Just go to our website at  www.purrproject.com and click on the ‘I Want To Visit’ button. You’ll find all the info you need about visiting the shelter, or you can contact our Tour Director, Bob Doelger, at visit@purrproject.com The cost is only $400 pesos if you pay on the van or $20usd if you pay on-line by PayPal.
PuRR Project Shelter ToursWith the help of some of our generous donors, we’ve made a number of improvements to the PuRR Project shelter this summer—like the new Memory Bench in the garden area and the added concrete pathways between the buildings. In addition to meeting all 200 cats and kittens up close and personal, we also make a quick stop in San Juan de Valle, a charming little Mexican town near the shelter where we’ve discovered a great taco stand and some interesting little tiendas. You’ll be back at your pick-up point in Vallarta by 1:30pm. A fun way to experience the “real” Mexico and benefit our furry residents at the same time!

Next season’s shelter tour dates are

  • November 14 and 28
  • December 12 and 26
  • January 9 and 23
  • February 6 and 20
  • March 6 and 20

FALL GARAGE SALE NOVEMBER 10

PuRR Project Garage SaleYep, we know it’s only September and we know you’re probably thinking, “It’s too hot and sticky to even THINK about cleaning out my bodega…or my hall closet…or that strange box that’s been under my bed for 10 years!” But the PuRR Project 2018 Fall Garage Sale is scheduled for Saturday, November 10, and we’re already beginning to collect clean, gently-used stuff to sell – men’s and women’s clothing, jewelry, books, household items, furniture, decorative pillows, pet items. The secret to a successful garage sale is great stuff at great prices ~ we need your great stuff and we’ll price it to sell to benefit the furry residents of the shelter. t’s not too early to let us know if you have large items that you’d like to donate – with a little advance notice, we can arrange to come by and pick it up.
Contact Marilyn Khan at exkhan@usfamily.net for more info. Also, be sure to put 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. November 10 on your calendar and mark it “PuRR Project Fall Garage Sale!”

SHELTER NEWS

Champagne y Pinot

Champagne and Pinot

It’s been hot and wet….though not as much rain as usual for this time of year.  But storm season is not over yet, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for no floods this year! Our biggest concern right now is 40 kittens and a couple of new mothers in the nursery and only 2 adoptions here in Vallarta in July and August. We desperately need homes for some of these and cannot take more until that happens. If YOU would like to give a Furr-ever Home to one or a few great kitties, drop us a note at adopt@purrproject.com for more information!
