You can also pay and reserve on-line by contacting Bama at info@purrproject.com. Please join us for an afternoon of fun and music on the river on March 5. There will be great raffle prizes plus a 50/50 raffle for cash. This is our only planned fundraiser for the season and is in memory of Marilyn Khan (it was HER original idea!!). So PLEASE help us make this a memorable day for the 300 cats and kittens at the PuRR Shelter
THE PURR NURSERY
As of this writing, we took in 10 new kittens (and two adults) so far in January and had 13 adoptions. That brings the total in the PuRR nursery or clinic to 70 kittens that desperately need homes! If you are looking for a new furry friend, please stop by the PetCo Adoption Center any Saturday or Sunday and consider giving one of these adorable kittens a chance in YOUR Forever Home! They are socialized, tested, vaccinated and spayed or neutered and the adoption fee is only $400 pesos.
The cost for getting a kitten to the adoption stage is considerable. The test kits, flea & deworming medicines, vaccines, sterilization cost and special kitten food all add up with so many to care for. If you cannot adopt, consider a Virtual Adoption of one of our older cats as a way to give financial support to meet shelter expenses. SHELTER UPDATE: THE BIG HOLE!
Those of us who have even a couple of cats at home know how much and how heavy the litter box waste can get! Can you imagine that multiplied by 200??? All our PuRR cats and kittens that live in the casitas or clinic have about 17 litter boxes that are cleaned twice daily. Plus there are the dozens of yard cats that Carlos cleans up after and all that waste had to go somewhere…..the BIG HOLE!
We learned long ago that the daily waste is far too heavy for the local garbage company who refused to pick it up. So every couple of years we bring in a backhoe to dig a new compost hole at the far end 
of the property, then cover the old hole and haul away any extra soil. That solves our litter waste problem. It doesn’t solve the problem that COSTCO has had supply problems and has been out of litter several times recently and limiting purchases to two bags per customer when they do have it.

Mr. Pickles at PuRR
Currently residing in our Senior Center, Mr. Pickles would LOVE to move to a home where he can get all the love he deserves! He’s around two years old and used to live in a home in Canada before moving to Puerto Vallarta. It’s a long story how he ended up in a shelter, but if you are interested in adopting this sweet guy, contact Linda at adopt@purrproject.com for all the information!
